The Xiaomi sub-brand Redmi announced on Thursday that the Redmi 9 Activ would go on sale in India on September 24. The Redmi 9 Activ’s exact characteristics are yet to be published.

Redmi 9 Activ India sale details
The Redmi 9 Activ will be available for purchase on Friday through Amazon, Mi.com, Mi Home shops, and Mi Studio, according to the official Redmi India Twitter account. However, the Redmi 9 Activ’s price and features are yet to be disclosed. The official image shared by the Redmi India account includes a teaser image of the upcoming Redmi phone’s rear.
It shows a twin rear camera arrangement on the Redmi 9 Activ and implies no big modifications over the original Redmi 9. The phone is also expected to include 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage, as well as a fingerprint sensor on the rear, similar to the Redmi 9.
Separately, MySmartPrice claims, in cooperation with tipster Ishan Agarwal, that the Redmi 9 Activ would be one of the two new Redmi phones Xiaomi plans to introduce in India soon. The Redmi 9A Sport is supposed to be the alternative variant.
Redmi 9 Activ specifications (expected)
While the Redmi 9 Activ’s actual specifications have yet to be published, the MySmartPrice report indicates some of them ahead of its launch. The phone is claimed to be available in a new Metallic Purple colour choice, as well as two different storage options: 4GB + 64GB and 6GB + 64GB. Other features of the Redmi 9 Activ may be same to those of the original Redmi 9.
The Redmi 9 Activ is expected to sport a 6.53-inch HD+ display and a MediaTek Helio G35 octa-core processor. The phone is also believed to include a dual-camera system on the back, with a primary sensor of 13 megapixels and a secondary sensor of 8 megapixels. It might also contain a 5,000mAh battery.
Redmi 9A Sport specifications (expected)
In comparison, the Redmi 9A Sport is expected to come in Metallic Blue, with 2GB + 32GB and 3GB + 32GB RAM and storage options. Other characteristics include a 5,000mAh battery, the same display size and resolution as the Redmi 9, the MediaTek Helio G25 SoC, a single 13MP back camera, and a 5MP front camera. The whole package is expected to be in one of the most inexpensive price sectors, and with the addition of a new colour, Xiaomi is likely to keep its budget smartphone lineup fresh – at least until the next generation is released.
Both of the new Redmi 9 series smartphones are expected to arrive in India shortly, although no specific date has been announced.
